The word "Ayurveda" is translated as the science of life, and Ayurveda represents an enormously deep and profound system of traditional Indian medicine that has been practiced continuously for over 5,000 years.

Ayurveda is primarily focused on maintaining good health and preventing disease through simple, accessible, and sustainable daily practices.  It's a vast and thorough system of medicine that supports a healthy body, mind, and spirit.  Although the full science of Ayurveda includes surgery and treatment of disease, in the USA, Ayurvedic medicine is used mainly for preventative care and alleviation of general illness and discomfort (e.g. helping to reduce acid indigestion, constipation, headaches, dry skin, acne, congestion, bad breath, water retention, weight gain, trouble sleeping, low sex drive, stress, etc.).

Traditional Ayurveda techniques teach safe and manageable self-care practices that most anyone can do.  These practices include adjusting to the daily rhythms and monthly cycles of nature that directly affect our health, like prioritizing a seasonal and local diet, eating mindfully to enhance digestion, taking proper care of the sense organs (e.g. neti pot, tongue scraping, and abhyanga), and utilizing appropriate yoga and fitness routines that are best for each individual. Ayurveda empowers people to take control of their lifestyle in all ways, often with astounding results including improved digestion, reduction of pain, and enhanced resilience to stress. Making simple, positive changes can radically affect health, happiness, relationships, and spiritual contentment.

The best way to begin an exploration of Ayurveda is to work one-on-one with a qualified and experienced Ayurvedic doctor or Ayurvedic practitioner. Working with clients individually is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling aspects of my career and if you'd like to learn more, please contact me by clicking the "Coaching" link below. I do private consultations in person or via Skype, and if you prefer to work with someone else, I'd be happy to direct you to another member of my network of trusted Ayurvedic practitioners.

Cheers to glowing health!
