Ayurveda for Winter: Vata Yoga, Self-Massage, & Yoga Nidra for Self-Care
Larissa Hall Carlson
"Ayurveda" is the “science of life" and represents an enormously deep and profound system of traditional Indian medicine practiced continuously for over 5,000 years. As Yoga's sister science, Ayurveda is primarily focused on maintaining good health and preventing disease through simple, accessible, and sustainable daily practices. This workshop will help you relax, rejuvenate, and nourish, while reducing stress, fatigue, jitteriness, and dryness (elevated vata dosha) that often increase during the cool, windy, dry winter weather. We'll begin with a brief, informative discussion on how Ayurveda's vata dosha governs winter and which Ayurvedic self-care practices are best in winter. Then ease tension in a slow, grounding, gentle-level yoga practice emphasizing deep leg & hip stretching (vata balancing). To enhance relaxation, we'll explore a luscious self-massage (abhyanga) with organic oils from Banyan Botanicals, a soothing body scan meditation in relaxation pose (yoga nidra). Spend the afternoon nourishing the body and restoring your sparkle!
Ayurvedic organic massage oil included (plus loads of enriching handouts and some Banyan Botanicals bonus samples!)
NOTE: bring a towel and wear clothes that can expose the arms & lower legs for self-massage.
